SBS 2008 Remote Outlook Web Access issues

Hello, I have setup a new SBS 2008 box. Everything works a treat on the internal lan as well as resources available to users via a vpn connection. Outlook web access, Remote workspace & Sharepoint resources as well as the default website all accessible without issues. The problem lies on the same resources made available to external users. I can get to the default web site via a port forward, example http://www.abc.co.uk and I get to the IIS holding page. When I attempt to access Outlook via the web browser using https://abc.co.uk/exchweb the url changes to https://remote.abc.co.uk/owa/ and I get a browser message along the lines of

"Safari can’t open the page “https://remote.abc.co.uk/owa/” because Safari can’t find the server “remote.abc.co.uk”"

Do I need to register a subdomain with my ISP and point it to the IP address of my router as i did with abc.co.uk or can I make a change through IIS? All necessary ports including 25, 80,443,937 are open and forward to the server.

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Exaclty, you have to create a DNS A Record remote.abc.co.uk which points to your IP. Nothing else will work, because "The Internet" needs a way to know that remote.abc.co.uk is where it is. Do it, and it will work like a charm!
