How do I move my Microsoft OneNote files to another computer?

I have 2 Windows 7 machines.  One has a virus and I can only run in Safe Mode and then only to look at folders.  I am going to have to re-install Win7 but first I want to copy my OneNote files to the other machine (Win7 Office 2010) and make sure it works before I re-install.

I have already moved the contents of  [User]\My Documents\OneNote Notebooks to the corresponding folder on the good machine but when I run OneNote it says there are no Notebooks open.

The only difference is that it is a different User Account name on the good machine.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Are they in another location on the problem machine? I do not keep my OneNote notebooks in My Documents - I keep them in a folder (with other things) so I can readily back them up. Look for *.one files and see if there are others around. Also when you copy over, you need the folder holding the *.one files, not just the contents.

I originally copied the folder (including the contents) to another computer (new) and I was able to open the moved folder just fine.  So it may be the folder issue. ... Thinkpads_User
