Novell GroupWise Webaccess down - Tomcat4 not loading
I am having an awful time trying to get Webaccess up and running after a Netware upgrade from SP6 to SP8. I am not the best with Netware as most of my experience is with Windows. I have tried the pkidiag and tckeygen but neither solve the issue. I was getting error 503 when I tried to get to the webaccess and now I get nothing. I found this http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tip/17286.html article discussing Tomcat5 and Webaccess but I do not see where SP8 even installed Tomcat5 and now Tomcat4 only gives me a java: class org.apache.catalina.startu p.bootstra p exited with status 2 when I try to load it manually. running a java -show show me nothing is running. I am running Netware SP8 with GroupWise 7.0.1.
Any help is appreciated!

Ok I fixed the tomcat issue by installing Tomcat4 and 5 from the SP8 overlay. See attatched java -show
Also, see attached for the answers to the tckeygen and EA questions.
Now, when I load tomcat4 it does not do the exit status 2. I still cannot get to Webaccess though. I just get a page is unavailable and nothing else. (previously I was receiving a 503 error)
Interestingly when tomcat4 loads it lists GroupWise Webaccess 7.0.4 but my GroupWise WebAccess Agent screen indicates that 7.0.1 is running - I am guessing there is something wrong here. (see attached Tomcat4 logger screen)
Thanks in advance!

You're seeing the WebAccess version info because WA is two separate components: the agent (you're seeing as 7.0.1) and the application (you're seeing as 7.0.4). I'm not sure why the difference if you installed everything from the same software download. Is it possible you updated the WebAccess Application and not the WebAccess Agent? That might explain the problem that WebAccess isn't working.
Do you see a white screen after login? Or do you not ever see a WebAccess login screen. If you see a login and go through the login process to get into WA but then get a white screen, check the sys:\novell\webaccess directory for a file webacc.cfg and in that file find a section for Security and look for something like Use.Client.IP=True and change it to False. You can then wait 10 minutes from saving the file or stop and restart tomcat by typing tc4stop, checking the logger screen for "Doing a Stop" and then once you see that type tomcat4.
You could also exit java (java -exit), wait for it to come down and then relaunch tomcat4. You don't need tomcat5 for WebAccess on NetWare and can remark it out if you'd like. On NetWare tomcat5 is used for iManager 2.7.x if you installed it.
If you don't see any login screen, check to make sure apache web server is loaded (the load script is ap2webup.ncf).

I tried to update GW again and now that 7.0.4 loads I cannot send mail to an outside email address. I am able to send mail inside the domain though. Any ideas?
ASKER
I am also not receiving email from outside the domain.
Did you launch the GWIA? It is the internet agent to send/receive outside email. Is the GWIA in a separate domain on a separate server? If so, check that other MTA and see if the domain where your post office is located is closed and if it is closed why (press F10 options | Configuration status | press enter on the domain and then press enter on Details.
Does WebAccess work now? Login, etc.?

No. WebAccess is the least of my problems now. I am not able to send or receive mail from outside the domain. I think I messed up the autoexec somehow with the upgrade of 7.0.4. Possibly installed in wrong directory? I am now getting GWIA.NLM "UNRESOLVED" when i boot the server. I am certainly in over my head with this one but I think that might be the source of the issue.
Any assistance would be most welcomed as I don't think I will be sleeping tonight!

When I try to send mail in Groupwise the messages just go into the sent folder with this icon next to them (see attached)

Are you callable? I know that this is outside of the normal EE process but being down is a bad thing.

You were right on with the modules being loaded. I downed them and re-installed.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Also, please look at your autoexec.ncf file and see if you can see entries that look something like:
sys:\tomcat\4\tc4start.ncf
and later in the file:
sys:\tomcat\5\tc5start.ncf
You can get into the editor for NetWare and directly into the autoexec.ncf by simply typing EA at the system console.
Please let me know.
