We are using Exchange 2007 as Messaging Solution. We have CCR mailbox server & 3 servers running Hub Transport, CAS on each of the servers. Yesterday we were implementing the Update Rollup1 for Exchange server 2007 on one of the Hubtransport & CAS server. Unfortunately during the installation on one of the server there was an unexpected shutdown of the server. After that Exchange Mail Submission & Transport services are not running. Also when I try to install the update rollup1 once again the installation exits saying that the installation ended prematurely. Now I want to restore the server to early stage. In this scenario can i use the /recoverswitch restore the exchange server. Also I have the system state backup. Can I use system state to restore the exchange server. Which one should I use to restore. Please guide me.

remove the Computer account from AD
install new OS and join back to the domain.

Thank you. It worked. But I am not getting the option to enter the product key for the newly restored exchange server? What is the problem?

This is because the key is stored in AD, so there is no need for that
