Hi everyone,

I've got a problem adding a new DC to my Forest :

The main DC is a Windows 2003 server. I want to add a windows 2008 R2 DC.
I raised the domain and forest level to 2003 (it was 2000)

Then i copied the adprep from a Windows 2008 R2 CD to do an adprep /forestprep but nothing append !

Any idea ?

copying adprep will not help you.  You need to run it from the disk or copy the entire folder that ADPREP is in.
You also need to run ADPREP32 if you are running a Windows 2003 32bit server.

Run ADPREP.exe for 64 bit because Win 2008 R2 is a 64 bit system. Check the DVD, is in \Support\adprep.exe

clonyxlro > That is incorrect.  You run the ADPREP on the Windows 2003 server not the 2008 server.  Therefore if the Windows 2003 server running the FSMO role of Schema Master is a Windows 2003 32bit server the command you need to run is ADPREP32

Use win 2008R2 media for upgrading the schema(adprep /forestprep) in schema master

Check the log and scheme version number that should be 47(dsquery * cn=schema,cn=configuration,dc=domainname,dc=local -scope base -attr objectVersion).

Run domainprep (adprep /domainprep) in INFRA Structure master and check the log

and adprep /domainprep /gpprep and check the log.

Now your forest in ready for new WIN 2008R2 DC.
