Hey,

I'm new to the http://connect program.  I want to migrate a current user domain profile to the new SBS 2008 domain.  However, when i run HTTP://connect it does not give me a option to choose Domain accounts, just the local ones.   Is there a way to transfer these accounts?

Unfortunately http://connect only works with local accounts. Domain accounts either from a different domain or the same domain if rejoining the domain cannot be imported. You need to manualy copy the user specific files such as my documents, desktop, favorits, etc.

PS- there is a tool called Profwiz which should be able to do this for you. I haven't used it with 2008 or in many years but it is free if doing one user at a time, and will migrate the profile. I would test it with one user though. I don't reall if it allows you to create the new domain profile first or it does it for you. With SBS you want to use the SBS wizards to create the profile, not a tool that uses server std techniques.

Proofwiz looks like it could be the answer. I'll check it out tomorrow.   Just out of curisoty, why doesnt Microsofts connect program allow you to migrate a domain profile? can you think of any reason?

I am not sure, but it has never allowed it, even with previous SBS versions. I assume it is because the permissions are handled differently. The SID's for the old domain would no longer be valid with the old domain removed so that might be related.
