Netapp - Host Utilities Program and iSCSI. Is it required on my ESXi 4.1 servers?

I've never touched a SAN until last week. I have a new NetaApp FAS2040. I got it connected to my switches, got the networking up, HA on the controllers, and my ESXi 4.1 servers can see the netapp box. Next i'm trying to verify iSCSI is setup correctly on the NetApp and on my ESXi boxes, then finally get the vCenterServer to see the NetApp storage.

I'm reading "Block Access Management Guide for iSCSI and FC". It keeps referring to installing "ESX Host Utilities 5.2" is this necessary? If it is necessary, any suggestions? I am reading the "ESX Host Utilities 5.2 Installation and Setup Guide".

Do  you have any suggestions for setting up iSCSI on the NetApp System Manager? Below is a screenshot of my settings. I have the service running, but no Iniitiator Security settings. I'd like to leave security wide open now. I don't need to complicate things.

Not needed, especially since most new installs will be ESXi only.    Ensure that you have the LUNs thin provisioned and deduped as you will save quite a bit of space on the volume level and VM deduplication.
