My Dell Laptop takes way to long to startup, but runs fine once it starts up. I have gone into MSCONFIG and turned everything off to see if that helps but it did not. Any sugestions?

I am running XP Professional.
What programs are on the right side task bar? The more start up programs you have the longer it will take to boot up.

Just my Kaspersky Anit Virus. I am also on a local domain.

How much RAM? Any Domain policies running on the machine during startup/logon?

Try running Ccleaner, WinOptimizer, or Reg-Machiner.  Download a free trial, and do some basic system maintenance stuff.  Links below.

Just curious.  Have you tried turning your Dell Latitude E6500 on disconnected from the network?  If you have did it boot faster?  Can you log on to your machine locally; no domain?
Turns out it was a bad battery, I pulled it and started the computer with just the AC and it started up just fine.

Wow.  Yeah I never would have guessed that was going to be the end diagnosis.  Thanks for posting, and closing the issue.
