Cany anyone post simple smb.conf file, I want to browse files from my windows box. I'm running centos  5.2

for example configure samba share /home/depts/legal
1) install samba
rpm -Uvh samba-* system-config-samba*(optional)
2) vi /etc/samba/smb.conf
[sharename]
path = /home/depts/legal
browseable = no
writeable = no

you can  test  Samba configuration for errors by using testparm /etc/samba/smb.conf

[root]# testparm /etc/samba/smb.conf
Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf
Processing section "[homes]"
Processing section "[printers]"
Loaded services file OK.
Server role: ROLE_STANDALONE
Press enter to see a dump of your service definitions

# Global parameters
[global]
        workgroup = MYGROUP
