"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The easiest way is to do a full backup and restore the .bak file on the new server.

I want to avoid having to do a full back up and restore as that process would change to the  Log Sequence numbers and I need them to be consistent.

Detach the database, copy the files, rename and Attach

Yes, that is worth a shot
Well since you are concerned about breaking the log sequence, just grab your last full backup and roll forward your transaction log backups.

Let's just HOPE that you are still taking periodic FULL backups and not depending upon a backup chain that is weeks/months old.
