I don't this is possible and haven't been able to find any information about it, but here goes.  Is it possible to expire a password after x hours when the password is temporarily setup or reset by an admin?

Unfortunately, no. It's currently not possible to set multiple expiration dates on a single account. If you have Windows 2003, resetting the password as an admin will cause the password to expire in the same amount of time as if the user reset it themselves. Windows 2008 would allow you to create an OU that had a different password reset time in it, but you would have to move the users there before resetting the password, and doing so would require a lot of administrative effort because the users would have to be moved out of that OU after they logged in with the new password.
