Message window stays open in Outlook 2007
When clicking 'reply' or 'forward' on an email and then clicking 'send', a copy of the sent message gets minimized to the taskbar, but cannot be closed. I have tried right clicking on the minimized window and clicking close/move/maximize etc and I cannot get it to go away. I have tried the obvious (logout, restart etc)
Running Windows 2003 Server and Microsoft Exchange

Try this:
Go to Tools > Options > Email Options and place a check mark on "Close original message on reply or forward"
Hope it helps.

Ya I tried that: no cause found.

@ovoehlers: tried that already as well, but forgot to mention it.
A couple of questions:
Is that user the only user with outlook 2007 with that problem?
Which version of Exchange and which Service Pack?

Exchange 2003, all servicepacks and updates have been applied. All users are using Outlook 2007, and this is the only user with that problem.

tried that, there are only microsft add-ins enabled, didn't work
Do you have an AntiVirus Software that scans incoming and outgoing emails? Disable it temporarily if you do.
Also try this:
On my laptop i have a 3rd party plugin that kind of locks up outlook from time to time, but it doesn't really freeze it, what happens is that there seems to be a dialog box that you can't make make active to click it away. Yeah i know weird.
What i do is just press (ALT+TAB) to active that dialog box, I still don't see it, but then i press ENTER or ESC and i get outlook unlocked. Not saying that that's what's happening to you, but it's worth a shot.
Hope that helps.

i tried that, and when 'alt+tabbing' the message becomes active, but not visable, and esc will not close it.

There was an add-in that I did not see. After disabling it, it worked.
