gridview bottom border missing after merged cells

After merging the cells / combining the cells into 1, notice that the border of the gridview is missing as shown in attachment pic.

 e.Row.Cells.RemoveAt(2);
 e.Row.Cells.RemoveAt(3);
 e.Row.Cells.RemoveAt(4);
 e.Row.Cells[1].ColumnSpan = 4; image file
