vb.net - disable local area connection

hello there,
I would like to know how can I disable the local area connection using vb.net
right now I have the code bellow but when I use it and I right click on the local area connection its not grayed out and it doesn't say disabled
Shell("net stop dhcp")   'Run this to stop internet connection
Shell("net start dhcp")   'Run this to stop internet connection

Also if you are going to spawn commands consider using the Process object now instead of Shell.
