I have just setup a new HP Color Laser Jet CM2320nf MFP on a small LAN with printing via TCP/IP address with no issue. I decided to install the software on one computer that i wanted to handle the scanning functionality.

btw; Can you scan over ethernet or does it need to be USB

anyway, i continued to install the software with the system level administrator account on a windows 7 machine and i get the following two errors.

Hi CiaranDe,
It is clear that your hp drivers are not win7 ready.
I believe you should search on the hp site for updated drivers.
But here's a trick that worked for me more than once. You could explore your installation cd and go to autorun.exe file. Right click-->Properties-->compatibility tab
there you should check the run as win xp sp3 box and run as an administrator box. I'd follow the same procedure on steup.exe file on your installation cd.
then try to run again the procedure.

Btw did you let win7 recognize and autoinstall your printer? If not give it a try...
Hope this helps:)

no because the drivers on that cd (pcl 6) are capable of installing the printer as just that, a printer.

but i was trying to install the software as a suite which comes with the scan and fax utility etc. which windows would not do that automatically.

i will consider your other methods.

Well, I have a multifuction printer and at first win7 installed all three printer, scanner and fax with its own universal drivers. Worked fine except printing properties for which I had to find and install updated drivers. However if the above don't work will figure out another way:)))

how are you scanning with windows universal drivers. you need the hp product suite for that.

Commented:
I never use the suite to scan. I scan through applications that import my scanning such as finereader, photoshop etc

Mostly because of the impolite statement of the closing reason
