Hi Experts,
We had a power failure and the ISA server rebooted, since then the server control service would not start, it keeps coming up with error 1053.  The other ISA services are up.  It's a very critical server as it's our proxy and gateway to the internet.  I've rebooted several times with no luck, please assist.

Open a command prompt and Run chkdsk /f then reboot your server for the disk check and wait for the results. After a power failure there is a possibility that you have lost/corrupt files and a disk check is the first thing you have to do...

If this doesn't work, start a command prompt and run sfc /scannow (System File Checker) - this scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions

Try the above and tell us your results...

Chkdsk /f ran but didn't fix the issue.  sfc /scannow keeps prompting for the servicepack 2 CD, I downloaded and burnt it to CD, but it keeps saying it's not the correct CD, I tried puting in the OS CD with SP2 but it doesn't like that one either, any sugestions ?

I re-installed SP2 an it fixed the problem.  Thanks

Probably you used a different cd to install SP2. If you had that cd, then the sfc / scannow command was enough to have the server fixed. This is what you achieved by reinstalling SP2. I still suggest you run the command sfc /scannow because there may be more corrupt files that are not part of Service Pack2.
