"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Do you mean an account within Outlook or a mailbox on the mailserver?

As far as I know they left the account exporting to the File and Settings Transfer Wizard.

BUT:

   1. Start > Run > type ‘regedit’
   2. Locate the following path in your ‘Registry Editor’
   3. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Outlook

Now right click on the key outlook and select option: Export and save .reg files to your desired location. You can run the same file while restoring your outlook. This will restore your old outlook profile with all your email accounts settings and rules. You will need to enter your password as Password is not stored into .reg file.

Account information is held in the user's Windows registry, not in a file, at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles

While you could export this key, its not generally recommended because it contains absolute paths to files (in your user account folders) and information about installed add-ins. If the path is not exact when you restore it the profile will be corrupt.

You can export the registry key and import it again, if your drive letter doesn't change between installations and you don't have much custom add-inns going on.
