Configuration register Cisco Switch

Hi
I know how to change the configuration register on a router. Is it possible to do the same on a Cisco switch running an IOS?

Thx.

Depends on the switch.  What model?

If this is for resetting the password?  switches usually allow you to break the boot process, and provide enough access to rename to startup-config file so it boots with a blank config.  You enter enable mode copy that renamed file back to running, reset the passwords and reload the device and the old config will load with the newly set passwords.

Yes, the confreg works the same way on C2960 as on Cisco-switches.

I was just curious. (sorry my spelling).
I'm reading for my ccna-test and the book only mentions the router when it comes to the config register. So I wanted to try on a switch but with out any luck.

If it's there it will appear in the show version output.

The config register is there. I'm just asking if it is possible to change the value in the register.
On a router you just type: config-register 0x2142
This command doesn't exist on a switch.

from enable global-config mode you can type this command, but it will not show in the 'show running-config'  0x2102 is used to bypass the startup config in ROMMON to perform password recovery.
wyborowaAuthor Commented:
Sorry, what command is that?

Password recovery proceedures differ between models.  What model switch and running what IOS version are you asking about?

You need to get into rom monitor mode in order to change the config register. To do that on c2960 you press and hold the mode-button while powering on the switch. Have a look at this link. When in rom monitor mode there is a confreg-command that will allow you to change the config register:
