We have a client that uses Outlook Journals against a Contacts List in public folders. We are trying to export this information from Journals into CRM 4 which we plan to possibly upgrade to 2011 in the near future.

The journals kept mainly hold email messages, notes, calendar information and attachments.

How do we export this information to CRM 4?

To import anything into CRM 4 you need to have CSV files that the contain the data.

With regard to Outlook journals you can export the journal items to a CSV file. You will need to decide which CRM record types to import the journal entries into - perhaps activities. Then you will need to map the column names in the csv file to field names in the relevant CRM record.

What about Attachments?

Some of the Journals contain Attachments, such as Email Messages or Word/Excel Docs etc

The Data Migration Manager tool (supplied with CRM) can import attachments.
