is there a dos prompt command or in-built tool that can tell if a machine/server is physical built or virtual, through a RDC connection.

the code "If IsVM Then..........." what language is it? how/where do you run it in OS 2003?
The code above is what I found as well in my search.  The script is Visual Basic Script (.vbs).  You would run it with the cscript command.

There is another thing that you could look for with scripts.  Since the majority of users should install the virtual machine tools, these tools would run as a process and you could identifiy if this is a vm based on the presence of the vm tools.
