NetApp/IBM N series MPIO setup

i have customer using IBM N series (similiar with Netapp FAS2020)with active/active for both controller. 2 nics at both controller is configured with VIF, seperate with 2 subnet and connected to 2 iscsi switch.
Server have 2 nic dedicated for iscsi traffic. both IP on controller is able to ping.

Just need to confirm, is there any specif configuration required in order to make MPIO work for storage. other than vif and cabling topology...

Dear hell_angel,

yes you also need to configure the iSCSI initiator (i.e. the iSCSI "client" software on the server) for MPIO.
Please refer to the following good resources:

IBM System Storage N series MPIO Support—Frequently Asked Questions

On, which however requires you have registered as a NetApp customer additional informaiton can be found (please consult with your IBM partner, for the IBM equivalent resources):

How to setup iSCSI MPIO on Windows 2003 using Microsoft multipathing

SAN/IP SAN Best Practices Index - Multipathing - iSCSI

Best practice is on the server side, not to create a "vif" (i.e. trunk/channel/team), but rather have two "independent" NIC's with eahc their seperate IP.
The iSCSI initiator, then use these two NIC's for MPIO.
On the controller side, it's ok to use vif for the iSCSI traffic.
