I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

try this

<script type="text/javascript">
var str="Hello worldsdfsdf dfsdf";

var str1 = str.substring(0, str.indexOf(" "));
var str2 = str.substring(str.indexOf(" "), str.length);

Open in new window

var firstBit = str.substring(0, str.indexOf(" ")-1);
var lastBit = str.substring(str.indexOf(" "));
