Try restarting the management agents on your ESX/ESXi host then try again. If that doesn't do it please give more details on your setup:

ESX/ESXi Version?
vCenter server involved?

We use ESX 4 and vSphere. I will try to restart it tomorrow and will let you know.

Hi

Are you trying to create this on the vSphere Client, or on the command console?

You shouldn't have to - but you can also try connecting your vSphere client directly to the ESX host instead of to the vCenter server.

Hi,

What type of vSwitch are you trying to create? Are you using CLI to create it?

Cheers,

Hi

Please can you be more specific?
What is the VMware that you are using? ESX or ESXi?

How many vSwitch do you have in your VMware? What type of vSwitch are you creating?

When do you receive this error?? What are the settings that you adding to that vSwitch?

Are you trying to create the vSwitch in the CLI? If yes, have you tried in the console(depends on the VMware)?

Have you tried like bgoering said, connect to the host directly and try create the vSwitch?

We are not in your system, and we cannot see the environment, so you need to give the most relevant information to have a possible good answer.

ESX

8 vSwitch.  Creating a Virtual Machine vSwitch

When do you receive this error?? What are the settings that you adding to that vSwitch?

Receiving the errors when we click finish to complete the "Add Network Wizard"

The settings are all default.  We are just creating a vSwitch and adding two NICs to it.

Are you trying to create the vSwitch in the CLI? If yes, have you tried in the console(depends on the VMware)?

We just tried creating the vSwitch in the CLI.  I don't know what the commandline is to create it on the console.

Do you connect to the host directly and try create the vSwitch

We are connected to the server that has the vSphere client installed.

Hi

You dont have a vCenter?

Try to create the vSwtich first without adding any NICs. Add the NICs after. See if this works.

To create vSwitch in the console:

lets create an example for vSwitch2

Create vSwitch
esxcfg-vswitch -a vSwitch2

Add/link the vmnics to vSwitch
esxcfg-vswitch -L vmnic1 vSwitch2
esxcfg-vswitch -L vmnic2 vSwitch2

Create teaming and load balance for this vSwitch
vmware-vim-cmd hostsvc/net/vswitch_setpolicy --nicorderpolicy-active=vmnic1,vmnic2 --nicteaming-policy=loadbalance_ip vSwitch2
vmware-vim-cmd hostsvc/net/vswitch_setpolicy --securepolicy-promisc=true vSwitch2

Hope this can help
