What is the "remote command switch show version"

Why does the ROM version show up differently when I run "remote command switch show version | include ROM" as opposed to just running "show version"?

Both the route processor and the switch processor have their own bootstrap.  The "remote command switch" command will run the command from the switch processor where as a standard "sh ver" command will run it from the route processor.

thanks chandlerweb,

Route processor is layer 3 MSFC3 card? "sh ver" shows bootstrap version of MSFC3 mounted on the Sup720?

Switch processor is layer 2 Sup720? "remote command switch show version" shows bootstrap version of the Sup720 blade?

Does this command work on all switches?
chandlerwebCommented:
Only layer 3 switches such as the 6500 series.

I should have elaborated my earlier answer - Your assumptions above are correct therefore you will only get a different output in layer 3 switches that have MSFCs. The 3750 does not actually have an MSFC.

I will take a look at your other questions. Please let me know if this has answered this one for you?
Thanks.
