SBS 2008 Console Crashes

Hi,

I have seen a few people with this problem.  I have been attempting to solve it to no avail.

With reference to this lead (http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2009/03/12/sbs-console-crashes-when-duplicate-entries-from-av-products-are-written-into-security-center.aspx) I looked for the relevant entry in the log file, could not confirm the diagnosis.

With reference to this lead (http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Server/SBS_Small_Business_Server/Q_26194409.html) the error looks different, and I am not sure this Hotfix solution is relevant to my case.

With reference to this lead (http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Server/SBS_Small_Business_Server/Q_25851212.html) I am unable to determine its relevance to me, and I am unable to understand the solution as written.

Having done a fair bit of googling to now, I wanted to ask the experts to take a look at the log file and see if you can help (attached - I've taken an extract of the file, it was 26MB, obviously the latest stuff is at the bottom).

Thanks alot for your time.

Tim.

So what are you running on the Server and clients for AV?
How much RAM in your server?
How much free space on C?
Have you run the SBS BPA??

Hi Cris,

AV = Sophos.

RAM = 8GB.

Free Space on C: = 72GB.

Have just now run the BPA, it has only said "cannot ping http://companyweb".

Also, I have attempted to repair from the control panel - however, I cannot find sbs.msi on my installation media, and am unable to run the repair process.  I followed the instructions here (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd430086%28WS.10%29.aspx) but the installer doesn't find the required files on the disc mentioned (or any other I tried).

What were attempting to repair...the console??
HTML5 and CSS3 Fundamentals

Build a website from the ground up by first learning the fundamentals of HTML5 and CSS3, the two popular programming languages used to present content online. HTML deals with fonts, colors, graphics, and hyperlinks, while CSS describes how HTML elements are to be displayed.

Yeah.  It crashes on startup.  It also crashes when started in safe mode.

And on Disc 2 Windows Small Business Server Disc 2 (Component Technologies for Server Repair) it doesn't find the file??

Author

Commented:
Yeah that's the problem.  However, I've just noticed it did find it.  What was happening was if I didn't have the disc in, and it asked me for it, then I put it in, it wasn't finding it.  But, for whatever reason, when I loaded the installer from control panel with the disc already in - it found it.

I will have to restart the server, it is a production server, so I will do it overnight, and then we'll see if it's fixed...

Wierd.

Thanks, mate.
