I am having trouble getting vmrc to run against my vsphere 4.0 hosts.

I've tried the vmrc in the \program files\common\vmware, and also installed microcom's vmrc.  neither runs.

The OS is Server 2008 64-bit.  Is there a trick to get a vmrc to a vsphere 4.0 guest?

hi
did you install the vmrc in server 2008 64 bit and what error did you get.

no errors installing it.  There was apparently an existing version in \program files (x86)\vmware\infrastructure client\4.0\  (or something similar to that).  If I run that .exe, it gives me an error about opening a VM - which I expect because there were no parameters.  If I specify parms from a cmd line, or create a shortcut to the .exe with parms, it doesn't do anything - no error, no window pops up or anything.
I figured this one out.  For vmrc to connect to an ESX/ESXi host, the "-m" is not needed in the parameters to specify the VM.  When connecting to a VM on Vmware Server 2.x, the "-m" *IS* required ("-m [datastore] path/vmx", or "-M [MOID]").

Once I removed the -m it works fine.  Thanks.
