How to add Recurrence field to Room and Equipment Reservation template in SharePoint 2007?

Dear EE,

We have installed the Room and Equipment Reservation template with our MOSS 2007. It's working, I have customized the Resources, columns, etc. But the only thing that I don't know how to add is the "Recurrence" field. In whereas if the user needs to make a repeating reservation, the user will just tick that field and will indicate from when, until when will it be.

Thank you in advance!

It can be done on the client side in Outlook

@Oestonee: How can we do it with Outlook in client side? Kindly advise...
When a person creates a reoccurring meeting and books the resources the resources are used for every occurrence.

Assuming the calendar is connected to outlook, you are using exchange server and everyone has at least read/write rights to the calendar or the calendar is automatically set to accept requests.

@Oestonee: I've checked your advise, but couldn't find where to connect with outlook. We're using MS Exchange too for our email, but couldn't find it. Or it will only show to a person who's permission is R/W to the calendar?
Stiebel EltronAuthor Commented:
BTW, I set 1 user as R/W to the calendar, but still couldn't find how to connect to MS Outlook.. Please advise...
Open the calendar page
Under Actions - Connect to Outlook

I even use the Administrator account to check it, but still couldn't find the "Connect to Outlook". But if it's other Calendar, for such event, it can be connect to outlook.
I haven't worked with that template.... but my guess is that it really isn't a calendar but a list, hence the reason you don't see connect to outlook. If I get time I'll install it on my test server and see if I can come up with a solution for you.

...and here: there are many "issues" with this template.

Remember your first resource for any problems you run into will be the creator of this Template.
If they can't help you, then you should consider seriously if you should use their product.
Have you tried contacting them?

Also be aware that this functionality is built into Outlook itself (although not explicitly)

Stiebel EltronAuthor Commented:
@boag2000: I haven't contacted the creator of that template. I don't know who is/are the creator of that.
I have read the article on the link that you gave, but I don't think it answered my question... :-(

Anyway, still waiting for the exact resolution for my query...

The links were to alert you of the issues with this template.
There seem to be a lot of problems with it, and we can probably add yours issue to the list as well.

Have you checked the help file (if any)?
This may help:
If there is no contact or support info, then this is a tip-off that there is no support for this, hence even more reason not to use it.
My point is that perhaps this functionality is broken, ...and without any support, there is no way of knowing if it will ever be addressed.
Your only option is to continuously check for an updated template

As I also stated this functionality can be obtained with Outlook/Exchange "Resource Scheduling": al
My last company used it, and it worked well

I'm very confuse with this Template. Specially the permissions & security. I create a permission for 2 users, same permissions/securities, but the problem is the 1st user is working properly, but the 2nd user can do what the 1st user can't do. Such as create a new resource, deletes reservations made by other users.
Jeffrey CoachmanMIS LiasonCommented:
Again, I would think twice about using this template.

Especially with all the alternatives available.
Stiebel EltronAuthor Commented:
What alternatives you can advise, I mean web based. Bec. user might get confused if I implement this method, using MS Outlook. Users in our company are used to use the web base that I wrote in ASP, it has recurrence field, but the problem with that is u can't add resources, such as types of cars, rooms, etc. There's no selection, that's why users can reserve the same resource & conflict with others.
What version of Office are you using? I have resources and equipment set up in Exchange 2007 using resource properties....
Stiebel EltronAuthor Commented:
We're using Office 2007. But, do we need to force to update into version 2007 for the office of some users? Bec. there are still some users who are using office 2003.
