Windows 7 "Shutting down" hangs!

I have a brand new Dell Optiplex 380 PC running Windows7 Pro x86 in a SBS2003 domain.

For some reason I can't shut down or restart this D... computer!
It just hangs when trying with the words "SHUTTING DOWN" on the screen.

Problem persists even in SAFE MODE.
I have tried re installing but after drivers, updates and domain login it all starts again.
I have tried removing the Trend Micro antivirus but that didn't helped.

Any suggestions?

try running a repair install, or a system rerstore from the install dvd; here your options :    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

I used to have this problem with Adobe reader installed.  If you have it try removing it to see if it helps.

I have some more info here.

Because the PC could not perform a clean restart I had to make a system recovery to a previous state to flash the BIOS.
When going to this previous state before updates, Office + domain logon everything worked fine again.
I dont think the repair process is the answer.
i don't think - i test...

Really ? you don't think at all?

(sorry - I coludn't help it :-)  )

I am absolutly willing to try - and will - just don't THINK it will help me :-)
i understand your laugh - that's why i posted it that way.
But, it's just because i think that i test; i've seen much too many cases where a guy (or i) said : it can't be that..and did not test it.....
I think you know the rest ??
