We need to have openVPN   running before user logs in to the computer I have a bat file with a command line which runs user credentials. It will be used for the purpose if user forgets his/her password and a quest program will be running at the desktop (right next to the login box) which will connect users to the helpdesk and send them a temporary password. But in order to connect to the help desk you have to have openVPN   running and that’s why I need to have this bat file running before user logs on

I tried schedule task but doesn’t work at all
Thanks

OpenVPN can be installed as a service (the installer asks for that), and a service can be started on boot. However, that means the OpenVPN connection is running all the time. Of course you can stop the service once the user is authenticated, but that again requires service start/stop privileges for that particular user.

Would that be a feasible approach?

If you install OpenVPN using the Win32 package from http://www.openvpn.net/index.php/open-source/downloads.html, you are asked if you want to install the service. Nothing more to do then as to say yes.
