I tried to update java - JRE6 20.  During the update I got an error and the installation could not go on.  I got this message as I tried to open java in the control panel.
the system cannot find the registry key specified:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.6.0_20

Any solution?

I had that before. I had to uninstall java from add/remove programs and reinstall it.

yes, thank you. I reinstalled it and it seems to be fine; however, i can not open the java control panel in control panel.  It keeps hanging.
sound like a registry issue. can you do a system restore from before the update and then uninstall it and reinstall it before the update?

Use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall the Java 1.6.0_20 from your computer, then reboot and install the latest which is 1.6.0_22
