I'm currently using HTC Incredible with Exchange 2003 Active Sync.  I've only been using it for 1 day and already I'm having trouble getting mail.  So I want to test Touchdown.  I've tried 5 times with various setting to configure it, but it fails "authentication failure provisioning Activesync" check your credentials. Active synce version check returned negative"
It also states "Checking ActiveSync without SSL. Activesync location returned HTTP code 400: bad request"

I have my email set
password I re-entered it 3 times to be sure
user id is laspca/my user id
domain is spcala.com
server is owa.spcala.com
I have SSL set to "don't know" but I also tried "yes" because we did get one when we set up Activesync
Protocols I have only ActiveSync checked

What could be wrong?

The only thing that looks weird (to me) is the external url, typically mail.domain.com not owa, but you can also try with the external IP that points to your mail server.

I just tried 65.60.113.50 and then mail.spcala.com.  Same failure.  How do I verify that ip is the correct one to the Exchange server?

Commented:
If you only have 1 external IP then it is simple use whatismyip.com if you have a block and are unsure which one it is use www.mxtoolbox.com and do an mx lookup.

for the domain, is it looking for the external spcala.com or internal laspca?

Commented:
OK, a couple of thoughts, is spcala.com the name of your internal domain?  Also, remove the domain\ before your user name.
Did you try exporting your SSL certificate from your PC and import it to the device?
You can import using wired connection (USB)

The import of the certificate fixed it.  Should I remove the Exchange Activesync from the phone
You can still have Activesync enabled
