We use WSUS for updates in our organization for all client computers. A user was prompted today to update the MS Silverlight (which was btw an older version that what was already installed on the pc). How could it prompt for an update when they are being controlled by WSUS?

also, this article's last bullet point says that the prompting can be prvented by using WSUS which apparently not in my case.
How can I preventthis prompt on many many users?

Well, it shouldn't do that (I have WSUS, never ran into that issue), but you can disable updates in the registry. Read the "Registy-based Silverlight Policy Settings" section of the document linked below. You can also create custom Group Policy templates to manage these settings, it's all explained in there.

Good luck!

yeah, this is what the user was prompted with (see "silverlight prompt attached"), and in the application the option to install updates automatically was selected by default (see attached file "updates"). WSUS shoudl over ride those settings.

Wow, weird. Yeah, I've never seen that here. Could just be a pre-install, like you said in the post. The Group Policy ADMX templates should take care of you. Also, I just noticed that there's an updated deployment guide.
