Hi,

i am playing with System Center Essentials 2010 and need some help.

i installed SCE 2010 (which in turn installed WSUS) on a clean Win 2008 R2 using the embedded SQL Server Express 2008 R2 database.

then i decided, and i think it was a bad idea, to un-install WSUS and re-install it pointing to an instance of SQL Server 2005 that i have licienced on another server.

this all seemed to work fine until i tried to run reports from SCE 2010 and go the following error:

Note:  The following information was gathered when the operation was attempted.  The information may appear cryptic but provides context for the error.  The application will continue to run.

Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) ---> Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: Cannot create a connection to data source 'WSUSDatabase'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) ---> Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: Cannot open database "SUSDB" requested by the login. The login failed.

I think this is because i need to update the data source of the WSUS database in SCE 2010 report server. if i go to the following web page on the server that has SCE 2010 installed i can see the incorrect datasource:

http://SceServer/ReportServer_ESSENTIALS?%2fWSUS+Database&rs:Command=GetDataSourceContents

- <DataSourceDefinition>
  <Extension>SQL</Extension>
  <ConnectString>data source=SCESERVER\ESSENTIALS;initial catalog=SUSDB;Integrated Security=SSPI</ConnectString>
  <UseOriginalConnectString>False</UseOriginalConnectString>
  <OriginalConnectStringExpressionBased>False</OriginalConnectStringExpressionBased>
  <CredentialRetrieval>None</CredentialRetrieval>
  <Enabled>True</Enabled>
  </DataSourceDefinition>

I need to know how to update this.

thanks

jack
