asked on

??IE8 on XP - want to remove ALL menu and search bars ?? how ??

I have a KIOSK machine running XP
with
IE8.

users can only go to a very small number of pages as specified by links on the home page.

I would like to remove ALL bars except
for space for a hidden toolbar with a print button.

Thus,
I would like to remove the:
search bar
tools bar
address bar
etc.

thanks
Phil

What about View | Full Screen?
There is actually a "kiosk" mode that's great for development/testing.

Try this in the Start --> Run --> Open box:  iexplore.exe -k http://www.google.com

The "-k" tells it to run in the kiosk mode.

But don't use it like this in a production environment because users can still hit Alt-F4, CTRL-ALT-DEL, etc.

Right click the side to the right of the adress bar or the bar with tools and theres a little menu which allows you to select what bars show up.
would disabling the address bar be sufficient ?

WE used steady state - your encouragement helped us find the GPO controls. thanks. Phil
