Why is the domain part of our email addresses stuck in uppercase?

Hi,

New SBS server, set up a few users through SBS Console and for some reason the email addresses have been created like this: adam@DOMAIN.CO.UK when they ideally need to be all lower case.  i've tried going in to manually change the email addresses to make the domain lower case but it just ignores the case name.  Is there something within the system forcing the domain part to be upper case and if so can i change it?

Thanks

Adam
