Exchange on iPhone works internally, but not externally
I have just recently gotten a new iPhone. I am trying to get exchange setup on it.
I am able to connect to our exchange server at work if I am connected through the internal wifi, and use the internal IP address/dns name of the server.
If I try the external dns name, it does not work

Which version of Exchange are you attempting to connect to? - Exchange Version 6.5.7638.1 on SBS 2003
Have you tried configuring the account with SSL? It would only work internally when I turned SSL off on the iPhone
Does your company use Outlook Web Access? Yes
If so, are you able to access it externally? Yes

Make sure you have disable SSL on IIS for Default website
Also, disable form based authentication on Exchange System Manager.

Some basic steps to review in Exchange:
On "Default IMAP4 Virtual Server" right-click it and select "Properties"
On the resulting "Properties" window, accept all of the defaults, except:
On the "Access" tab, click "Authentication", uncheck "Requires SSL/TLS encryption"
Also in "Authentication", check "Basic authentication (password sent in clear text)"
Also in "Authentication", check "Simple Authentication and Security Layer"
Stop and Re-start the "Default IMAP4 Virtual Server"
