Physical Server Migration
Hi ,
We are planning to replace the server ( x series 346 -8840)with a same compatible hardware hence due to some Hardware issues .
In this hardware Exchange 2003 role is running and the mail box too stored here locally.(no clusters)
We have 3 sets of Logical drives ( Raid 1) is configured in each set with 2 HDD per Logical drive.
We are going to use the same existing Drives. Kindly suggest the best solution
Thanx in advance . .

I object to closing for zero. The author asked for "best solutions". He received solutions and feedback. All authors who responded should be given credit. Granted a more specific question may be closed for zero if it was not answered ... but whenever anybody asks general questions for help, and gets responses, then IMHO it is too late to just delete the question and not reward experts for taking the time to respond.
I agree

With an A+ :)
I agree with splitting the points. All our answers were correct. Without more information from the OP, we can't offer much more assistance.

Exchange isn't the friendliest thing to make a bare metal backup of due to transaction logs and such. Just make sure you do an offline backup and then restore it to the new machine without letting the old one come back online. If the outlook clients see a different transaction state things get a little more difficult. You end up having to replay transaction logs.
Depending on the age of the drives, I would really consider the alternative of replacing everything and doing a complete migration. You may end up with less headaches and have a newer piece of hardware.
Dlethe is right on with reguards to the HAL and reformatting and restoring. The acronis program is called Universal Restore and it's basically an add on to the normal backup. It strips the HAL during restore so it can be rebuilt on first boot.
