Clustering 6509s

I have a 6509 that all my servers plug into.  I do have vlans configured to group them according to their role.  I received a new 6509 as a "gift".  I would like to implement it in my data center to create some fault tolerance.

I am thinking that I can configure VRRP in order to make some fault tolerance, and then get two nics in each server, and setup with fault tolerance (not load balancing), plug the servers into each of the switches.

VRRP config

Existing 6509
config t
int gx/y
vrrp 1 ip 172.18.0.x
vrrp 1 preempt
vrrp 1 priority 100

New 6509
config t
int gx/y
vrrp 1 ip 172.18.0.x (same IP used in cmd above)
vrrp 1 preempt
vrrp 1 priority 120

None of the servers use the existing switch as the default gateway, there is actually a firewall beyond the 6509 that does our routing (along with ACLs).

This config seems way too simple for me.  I am still researching how to configure this, and make my data center more redundant, and I figured I would use this resource to help me in my research.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks
