Help with ASUS K8V-VM boot

I have a ASUS K8V-VM motherboard for which I have just upgraded the memory. It originally was running 1 512MB of DDR200 memory. I have replaced that with 2 1GB sticks of DDR400 memory which the manual tells me is compatible. It shows the 2048MB of memory in the bios but it still shows the speed as 200 with no way to change it. Should a bios update take care of this problem?
