intel raid controller vs. asus onboard raid

For the purposes of a medium-use small office server running a RAID1+0 array using 4x hard disks, is there any significant difference in performance, reliability or maintainability between these two things:

1) Using the onboard RAID built into the the ASUS M4A785T-M desktop board here:

2) Using RAID from inexpensive raid controller card such as this:

Does the raid controller card have better management features or some other reason why it would be superior to what just comes on the motherboard?
