Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1

Using Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1, I have problem lunching a LAB that require base08c.vhd
All other labs lunch normally
The error i got is:
THIS APPLICATION REQUIRES WRITE ACCESS TO THE FILE BASE08C.VHD PLEASE ENSURE THIS FILE IS NOT WRITE PROTECTED.
I installed IIS
.net v2
Virtual server 2005 R1 SP2
The base files are not read only
I even download a new BASE08C.VHD file from MCT site, same result.
All other base files works fine.
please advise what to do to resolve the problem?

Thank you

Check the permissions on the file and compare to one that works

Dear bgoering, I did that already before submitting this question. But it does not work. On other PCs on my Class it is working fine, why? I do not know? But it was not me who setup them before, i asked the IT Admin who install them, he said he used a ghost image, and he cannot help me to resolve this issue.

Maybe some settings in windows or IIS or Virtual server 2005!!
I did format my PC 2 times first time I install windows XP-pro-sp3, second time I install windows Vista-business-sp2. Then I install IIS, checked for .net framework v.2 if it is installed. then I installed Virtual PC 2005 R2 sp1, then Launcher Application for the lab course 6420A which is for MCITP course exam number 70-642, the Launcher Application loaded and ask for base08A.vhd and base08C.vhd
All labs that require base08A.vhd run normally except the lab that require the base08C.vhd it show me this error:
THIS APPLICATION REQUIRES WRITE ACCESS TO THE FILE BASE08C.VHD PLEASE ENSURE THIS FILE IS NOT WRITE PROTECTED.
Any suggestion you thing it might be helpful I to resolve this problem I will be appreciated.
Are there any event log messages?
If you haven't seen it already look at this thread: http://www.aspdeveloper.net/Virtual_Server_2005/rn-738-12166_Virtual_Hard_Disk_errors.aspx

It offers a number of insights ranging from DFSR locking a file to UAC getting in the way (run IE as administrator in Vista) to "Network Service" account not having access to entire path to the vhd.

Let me know
look I am trying all possible way. I can allow remote desktop to you if you are agree to help such a method using team viewer.

Is the file local to the VM host? What are the permissions on it? You can try changing the permissions to EVERONE Full and see if that changes things.
i did what you said, nothing helped.

I do not think that the problem with permissions.
maybe some settings must be changed in http://localhost/VirtualServer/VSWebApp.exe?view=1

Can you check to see if the VHD file isn't set as read-only in the file attributes (not NTFS permissions)
Can you post a screen shot of the error message? Also, you should try VMRC Plus from Microsoft. It's better than the IIS web site for control, and it would also eliminate IIS as the problem.
Is this VHD file part of another VM, or is it the only VHD associated with the VM? You can try to create a new VM and use the same VHD file and see if that works.
I am using Virtual server 2005 R1 SP2 as a part of training labs for MCITP course.

VHD is not set as red-only that is for sure, error message is: THIS APPLICATION REQUIRES WRITE ACCESS TO THE FILE BASE08C.VHD PLEASE ENSURE THIS FILE IS NOT WRITE PROTECTED.

I  just solved the problem, it makes me suffer 3 days,  but i have to be sure about the answer that i will provide after more tests about why this method that i figure out worked. yes I am glad it worked, but I have to know why ?? I will come with solutions tomorrow for others benefit.

I am so thankful Gentlemen for your cooperation.
