how to redirect HTTP to HTTPS and remove /owa Exchange 2010
Hi,
I have tried every single method to do this that i can find! but i get the same result (more or less) every time!
Basically what i am trying to do seems like a very common thing to do, I would like it so when a user types in 'mail.ourdomain.com' it automatically redirects them to 'https://mail.ourdomain.com/owa'.
I have tried Scripts, changing all sorts of settings in IIS manager but the result always seems the same, that is this;
when it is all set up (whichever method i choose) if i type mail.ourdomain.com it waits for ages and then comes back with nothing, 'Oops, google cannot connect to this page' (chrome) or a Bing search on IE.
but if i type HTTPS://mail.ourdomain.com it redirects me to HTTPS://mail.ourdomain.com/owa.
why is it not doing the http to https bit????
please help.
thanks

Thanks but same effect, if i use https:mail.etc it works but just typing mail.etc says 'Sending Request' for about 12-15 seconds on Google Chrome then gives me the OOPS! google chrome could not connect. could it be a firewall error?
test it internally does it work ?
ASKER
nope:
internal has different URL, not sure if that makes any difference?
but here is a list of what happens, i will use IE for consistency:
INTERNAL:
Http://mail.domain.com - cannot display page (expected)
Http://mail.domain.com/owa - cannot display page (expected)
Https://mail.domain.com - cannot display page (expected)
Https://mail.domain.com/owa - cannot display page (expected)
Http://server.domain.com - Cannot display page
Http://server.domain.com/owa - 403 Forbidden: Access is denied
Https://server.domain.com - cannot display page
Https://server.domain.com/owa - works!
EXTERNAL:
Http://mail.domain.com - connecting.... .... ... ... cannot display page
Http://mail.domain.com/owa - connecting ... ... ... ... cannot display page
Https://mail.domain.com - works!
Https://mail.domain.com/owa - works!
from the long connecting wait, it looks to me like it could be a firewall issue or some kind of endless loop?
