Folder share mess between Mac and PC

I have a Mac (10.6.4), and a Windows Home Server (software v.3). I am trying to access my main user files of the mac from the WHS. This is the folder in which are "documents" "downloads" "music" "movies" etc.

In "Sys Prefs"/Sharing/ I set "file sharing" tick box, and add the directory in question. My username is set to "Read & Write".

Why can I not access the share? When I attempt to do so I get the following message:

"\\Computer is not accessible. You might not have permission to user this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network parth was not found."

The thing is that with other network shares I am prompted for the username and password of the computer wher the shares are, but this doesn't happen with my mac. Why? Is there anywhere a place to reset the passwords or to force authentication?

I already had a look at the "Stored User Hames and Passwords" in the control panel, but haven't tried to use it (currently there are no user/pass info in it).

What can I do to access my mac share from the WHS?

Thanks

Have you tried connecting to it with the IP address instead of the host name?

Yes I have. This one returns a different error:

"Windows cannot find '\\192.168.0.107'. Check the spelling and try again, or try searching for the item by clicking the Start button and then clicking Search.
Ensure the Share security is set to Everyone given Read.  Then in the Security tab, restrict the settings as you'd like.  If Everyone can't at least Read the share, they won't be able to see it at all.

I've managed to see my mac username as a share from WHS. However, I can browse some folders, but not others. I have done so by enabling read/write to "Everybody" (later I will have to change this), but the question is why can I access some folders (pictures, public, sites), but not any other ones (desktop, documents, downloads etc)?

N.B.
In my mac's sharing prefs I've set my home directory to be read/write by "everybody". In the "options" section I've ticked AFP, FTP and SMB.
You need to connect as an administrative user in order to see ALL the shares on the Mac.  Try mapping the drive in Windows and use a valid Mac admin username and password.

Hi, I am admin, however, I am not prompted to enter username and password. Why?

I'm just looking at permission on subfolders on my mac, and am noticing some "custom" settings. Is there a way to reset an entire folder with all its sub folders, so that any further shares inside that folder would be set with the default settings?

All this is still only working by letting "everybody" read/write. I need this to be authenticatable... how to do this?

Thalarctos, you ARE a genius.
Heh, I've just had to make Windows and Mac play nice together before. :)  Glad it worked!
