I can't get this powerpoint 2003 file to open in 2007 or 2010

This file was created in Powerpoint 2003 SP3 and for the life of me can't open it in either 2007 or 2010. In 2007 it just hangs with the progress bar in the bottom right at about 1/4 the way through. I've let it sit there for 1/2 hour and same. No errors or anything. So I took it home with me and tried opening it in Powerpoint 2010 Beta and it sits at 23% and will not open. I'll attach a screen shot.
I'm baffled. I've searched all over the net and for the life of me can't find a solution. Anyone else had a similar problem?

Thanks a lot,
BW

Hi

2007 and 2010 open 2003 files usually without any problems.  I assume that the same file opens normally in 2003?  Does the file in question have any special macros, automation settings, etc?

Hi professorbindokas,
Yes I can open it in 2003 no problem. Its just a lot of slides
Automaticall set to move to the next one. No music or anything like
that. Another thing I've noticed is that on my windows 7 machine
in windows explorer, if I turn on the preview pane I can actually
see and scroll through the slides.
Thanks,
BW
Update.
I can't open it up in a Powerpoint 2003 SP3 session. I managed to find an old laptop that had Office 2000 on it and I could open it up fine in that one. I've now tried to reuse the slides in Powerpoint 2007 where I can insert slides from another presentation but it hangs there as well. I've also tried a computer with Office 2003 and the converter installed. I right clicked on my file in question and hit 'Save As' and tried to save it as a .pptx file and an popup comes up stating that it failed to convert file.
This is frustrating. It can't be a corrupt presentation if it opens fine in Office 2000.
