asked on

how do I access an act database on a VPS

I'm testing the demo ACT 2011 Web version for our company. I'm a little confused about the expected topology. I have installed the Web version on a Win2003k VPS on Xen Server and I've created a test DB.

I also have 2011 Premium on my local machine and can access local db's here.

How can I access the DB on the VPS? Can I access the DB via IP?

To access you database on the hosted server, you have the following options:
1. Via the Web Browser and the ACT! for web interface
2. Sync a copy to your local machine
3. Terminal Services

Have a look at this article:

I'm aware that there are a number of ways to get to the data. The Web browser is too great for WAN but on the LAN I want more speed. The topology is unclear in the documentation. What is the recommended setup for LAN? Can one local machine share the DB on another or only "sync" to it?
