Sharepoint trial product key expired but....

Ok, I have installed Sharepoint 2010. With a lot of technical issues and after almost 2 weeks of head banging against the walls of the server room, I was finaly able to get it to install and work correctly. Then, my client wants Microsoft Project server 2010 installed which required sharepoint 2010 in order to install and work correctly.

Here's the deal, Now that Sharepoint 2010 and Project Server 2010 are installed, the Sharepoint trial product key has expired. It states very clearly in the install that if an extended amount of time is needed, to contact Microsoft and they will gladly extend the trial date. So, I contacted microdoft via phone and email...to no avail is any assistance at all being offered by Microsoft. Their cure.........Uninstall and reinstall....Really ??  are you phreaking kidding me ??

Does anyone know how I can extend my trial date for Sharepoint 2010 ?  I think the Microsoft Project Server 2010 gives me 180 days.....So I don't need to worry about that, only the sharepoint 2010.

Thanks to anyone who has a correct answer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    :- )

HI, as far as I way aware, the trials are good for 90 days.  If you run out, I'm not sure, we're a Gold partner and so don't have to worry about these things, however, if you can get hold of a new key you CAN re-license SharePoint.

I found the following URL:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/ee391660.aspx

You might be able to use the link on the left 'a partner near you' to see if they can help.  We, as a gold partner, have contacts at Microsoft for this kind of thing.  The other thing you could try is contacting you MS license reseller, they might be able to help.

Aside from this, the easier option in my case is a re-install as it only take half a day when you know what you're doing, might be worth doing that to become familiar with the product.

Check youtube for installation videos, that's where I usually start.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for this info. Looks pretty useful. I will try changing the Product key first and will let you know. Where would I go in SP to change that product key ?

Thx !!

Open the Central Administration site and under 'Upgrade and Migration' choose 'Convert farm license type'.  The next window will allow you to enter a valid product key.

Hope this helps.

I pay for access to this site. The solutions were not acceptable. Please unlock my account so I can continue to ask the support questions I need to and that I pay for.  Thank You.

I had given a concise answer with all the options I know to be available (being part of a gold partner).  Also re-installing the server yourself has a lot of merit if you plan to support the server yourself.

Personally I have not heard of Microsoft extending 90 days trials of on-premise SharePoint, I'm wondering if perhaps you have read this related to SharePoint Online?

After review and understanding that the server hosting sharepoint in question had a unique issue, I would like to split solutions and close this as resolved. It is hard to say if the suggested solutions would have really worked but I have no reason to beleive they shouldn't have.
