worldpay payment gateway integration

Hi,

How difficult is it to create a custom payment gateway for say 'Worldpay'.

What level of PHP / HTML etc.. is required?

Just trying to gauge what is involved in the process, before taking that particular path.

Many Thanks

It's all given to you.. the code and everything else for connecting to their API. Most popular PHP applications that require a payment system will have a module for them already.

hi, is that the case even if you wish the gateway to be invisible (to better brand the checkout?) for example?

API is used to integrate into a website better. If you don't use API then places like PayPal take you to their sites for payments. The API integration can come with some hefty up front fees and high charges for your transactions but in theory should do better for sales as it looks more presentable and professional.

Hi,
Thanks for you advice.. I have one last question..

Do you know if a gateway exists for  'The Bank of Scotland' rather than 'The Royal Bank of Scotland Worldpay' ? Do they even have a gateway API?

I have searched but can't seem to see any information online?
Other than a company that says they can do it...

I would stick with one of the global providers and transfer payments back on forth if need be. This is one of those instances when trying to bend the standard processes to make things easier ends up making things too hard. If you contact the bank and they make a recommendation then at least it's in their shoulders to get it to work. If you go with a global provide then you at least have the support of 100,000s of people who may have already made things easy and have a working system.
