I have an XPS/Dimension 210/9200C.

Does this computer require a specific battery or does any 3 volt work.  Every time I restart the computer, the settings are reset in BIOS.  I replaced the battery with another one from another computer and it is still having the same issue.

It requires a CR2032 or equivalent lithium coin cell battery.

Taking one from another computer isn't a good idea, as it may also be a degraded battery.    Buy a new one and be sure it's the right type -- they're only $2 or so.

... Note:  If the settings are changing due to a restart (i.e. you are not turning the system off -- just restarting it)  this may be a different problem than just a bad BIOS battery, as the standby motherboard voltage should retain the BIOS settings with no problem.     But it certainly won't hurt to try a fresh NEW battery before exploring other possibilities.

r.e. "... how did you find that out? "    ==>  Simply looked in the Service Manual for your PC:

... Look in the Power section under "Backup battery"

The XPS 210 and Dimension 9200C are identical -- it was just a marketing difference.
