How do I auto-provision Polycom and Snom phones on AsteriskNOW 1.5 system?

1) I read about auto provisioning voip phones through windows DHCP server , option 66 and 67. but none are clear from finish to end. Do i have create reservations for single phone/mac address basis ? Step by step instructions would be helpful as a novice in it.

2) Does Polycom phones allow vlan splitting? i noticed SNOM phones has that option. Planning to utilize phone's 2 port switch , 1 for phone and other to go to PC but a different VLAN. lets say VLAN 10 for Voice and VLAN 20 for Data
LVL 6

Sorry for long delay.

It looks like there is not just one file, but series of conf files you need to configure on asterisk.
I have found out this link:
https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Phone+Provisioning+in+Asterisk
and especially this one:
https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Phone+Provisioning%2C+Putting+it+all+together

I hope this instructions are valid also for AsteriskNOW.

Yes, you will need to make DHCP reservation for every single phone.

And it seems that Polycom phones do allow VLAN taging, but you should check for exact model.

I hope this will help you a little bit.

Davorin,

Thanks for answering, but i have configured the option 66 which i pretty easy, the unknown part (atleast for me) is how to configure .xml or .cfg file for phones . Once i have that i will be in business.

I found how to configure vlan tagging on Polycom and Snom phones by myself. I used CDP in polycom phones to capture the swithport settings. sorry the question was abandoned for more than 5 days.
