SharePoint 2010 permissions and inheritance

Hopefully this is an easy question. We migrated our WSS3.0 sp2 site to a SharePoint 2010 server via databse attach upgrade. The poolry designed permissions came with it as well I'm afraid.

So if a user is given limited access to a site via a default group but then also given full control directly will this overide the default limited access? Or do they need to be removed from those groups first?

Thanks Experts!

Greetings-

Full control permissions will take precendence over the limited permissions. The users do not need to be removed from the limited access groups.
Example: my user is in the "Visitors" group which allows Read access but also in the "Owners" group which has Full Control. The user has Full Control.

Cheers!
